The Relationship Between Philosophy and Self-Help
Iris Modok: I began with a certain kind of skepticism that it wasn't clear why the skills developed by philosophical training would make you any wiser or better able to guide people in living their lives. In writing midlife, I think I didn't really grapple with this very much and just thought, well, it's turned out that some of what I was thinking about philosophically has helped me. That's good.
