The Importance of Fandom
I have a hard time thinking about those things separate from their like cultural, like social acceptableness. I think what you're bringing up as a couple of valuable things. First of all, fandom is play. And not just cosplay, like literally becoming engaged in a fandom is a kind of shared world play. Human beings do a bunch of things to each other to like feel better about themselves. And one of them is the yuck other people's yums, whether that's kink shaming or play shaming; and kink is kind of play a lot of the time.
