Bart's Theology of God
Bart opposes the idea that man has original righteousness, holiness and knowledge. If man is not created with original knowledge of god, he is unable to know god at all. In bart's system it stands in radical antithesis to the deeper protestant conception. Scripture and nature both are not revelation. They are simply witnesses to revelation, which is a super historical event. But they are not themselvesrevelation. We have no direct revelation given to us from god. For bart, man in his natural state can indirectly know god through a purely human process, apart from direct revelation. This takes place all without the aid of special revelation,. as with aquinas as well.
