I've Violated Your Legally Protected Interest
A cause of action is essentially a violation of a legally protected interest. If i steal your computer, sarah, that creates a cause of action against me. And once my legally, legally protected interest has been violated, you have to find a court that has jurisdiction. So if i'm on vacation in california when you notice the dent i i dinged the car in virginia. You're going to have some jurisdictional problems.
