In the three weeks leading up to the murders, Jeff lost between 12 and 15 pounds. Turns out he was using the drug, eschatrol, which was a popular stimulant used for weight loss in the 70s. In the book Fatal Vision, it is hypothesized that Jeff was under the influence of amphetamines and probably in a rage at the time of the killings.
