The Universe Is Expanding, and Now It's Shrinking

Pulsating stars get brighter and dimmer, sometimes by a huge amount. These are the ones that hubble used to discover that the universe is expanding. Some of these things have a period f like ten days or 80 days or 90 days. It has to do with what's going on inside the star - pressure from radiation being generated at the core pushing out outer layers.
