Aubrey de Grey was the first person to give a 10 talk about radical life extension. He probably single handedly kick started huge industry and funding into this space. If he was like super grounded and didn't engage in hype at all, he wouldn't be as successful as he is. But sometimes it's not a bad thing, because he's probably generated a lot of interest in the field.
