The Unexpected Bankruptcy of a Low-Cost Airlines
Indian low-cost carriers go first unexpectedly filed for bankruptcy earlier this week. The airline blamed the bankruptcy on 40 Pratham-Whitney engines on its A320 family aircraft fleet. Go First was already running at a loss, but in 2022, it posted its biggest loss to date of $220 million. It hasn't been able to capitalise on the massive rebound in travel that we've seen this year because it hasn't got enough active airplanes.
