Leopold and Loeb - Five Major Mistakes

Clarence Darrow defended Nathan Leopold and Richard Loeb in the 1924 murder of Bobby Franks. The two were charged with first-degree murder for stealing a typewriter that had distinctive sticky keys, which matched letters they sent to Franks. Their alibi quickly disproven as soon as their chauffeur told police he was not driving them at the time but it would later be proved by forensic evidence. Clarence Darrow also represented John T. Scopes during his 1925 trial over teaching Darwin's theory of evolution into public school classrooms. He used logic instead of emotion when questioning an expert on the Bible about its literal interpretation of events such as the Flood.
