The Taoist Metaphor of the Plastered Lake That Has No Ripples
Taoist and Buddhist. image that I find most useful in interpreting all this is the plastered lake that has no ripples. That's such a, like, a quiet state that any ripple one can grasp on knows what's going on. It's kind of also reflects the heavens perfectly. So that's the image I correspond to, to understand a lot of the other metaphors.
