Is There a Good Way to Define Facial Expressions?

We're not very good at describing facial expressions and facial detail. We do have almost cartoonish descriptions of the kind that you just mention. And expressions things like smile or frown give us a very approximate sense. I think where this point really becomes clear is where you are talking about actually being able to recognize an individual by seeing their face. But if i try to explain to you in words what i see when iv seen a person's face, well, it's hopeless.
