The Importance of Communication in Family Conflict

In some families this assignment of roles is fixed and others it alternates. Some family members willingly intervene as mediators themselves to apply pressure or placate them without really resolving the dispute. The dissenting individual identifies deeply with this family dynamic and has no words available to express their unease. Even though resistance is quite understandable often it only finds expression in supposedly irrational outbursts or illness for example by developing psychological symptoms or forms of defiance which here repetition compulsion steps in just re-establishes special closeness to the family once again.
