The Iraqi Economy: A Tragic Story
The Iraqi economy was struggling long before the war. It's now an underdevelopment problem with a huge poverty problem, says John Defterios. Iraq itself has devoted its considerable oil revenue to reconstruction very inefficiently as a result of divisions within the country. That is part of the legacy of this economic point of view from an political point of view. And there have been no plans so far as far as I know for any kind of post-bathist reforms in that area.
