In 1983, Margaret Thatcher was on the cusp of the election that came in June. She had gone to a very famous rally, a young conservative rally. And she went from there to record a party election broadcast. But they decided they were junk and needed someone else to write a new script. Who did they turn to? Brian Walden - who just hours earlier had interviewed her on ITV. They called him later night and asked him whether he would come and write the closing party election broadcast in the 1983 election forMargaret Thatcher.
