The Disdain of Women in the Personal Essay
Richard Delaney says that Amos' review reflected a long line of disdain from serious writers for the personal essay. Richard Delaney: There's no sense that, oh yeah, a personal essay is woman's writing and the masculine interrogative essay or the masculine reflective essay. Like we've managed to, I think, get past some of those gender barriers at this point.
