The History of Playgrounds
In 1888, a playground opened in San Francisco and was one of the first public playgrounds in the U.S. In 1895, another playground opened in Chicago at a community center for newly arrived immigrants. And then, in 1903, Seward Park opened in New York City. See? It has a running track, a children's farm garden, even rocking chairs.
