The Peter Principle

The peter principle is that, basely, if you're good, you' get a promotion. And when you're not good any more, you stop getting promoted and everybody shoots at their job. This explains why some people in high-end jobs are so incompetent - because they got the position by virtue of being good before. If you're just like medium, or like a bit belo medium, you probably do get the ask. But if you're really, really shit, you probably don't deserve to be asked for it.
