The Hype Around AI
AI can do basic things accurately. It's not perfect, but it is increasingly better at it and we can measure how much better it's getting. We are measuring real improvements. So yeah, there's a yawning gap between where we are today and where it needs to go to be considered a real threat. But it also depends on what timeline you're operating under. I assume that you and I operating under within our lifetimes and anything that happens after our lifetimes we kind of don't care about. Whereas these people are like, if we're off by a few centuries, doesn't matter. That's the timeline that these guys are thinking about.
