What Happened to Calvin and Charley?

Calvin noticed that this other creature had more normal facial features, even though she was still a non human. He also believes that she implanted, or attempted to implant, something in his nasal cavity. When she touched him, he didn't feel warmth or apparently pressure when she touched his face. That's consistent with the effect of many anaesthetics as you'll know if you've ever tried touching your cheeks after the dentist has numbed your jaw.
