What John does is he lays the foundation of the Christian life. He says, hey, this whole thing everything I'm about to tell you is not made up. This isn't from human invention or human ingenuity. It's based on a real person who really existed and died on a very real cross. For a true follower of Jesus, the foundation of your life must be the word of God.
