I'm reminded of the work of Jane Jacobs. Are you familiar with her? I'm sure you must be, right? Yes. She's done pretty work that many people would call Hayekian. In particular, she looked at New York City and Robert Moses,. The planner of the 60s had just cut through all the old fabric and built motorways. We're just going to do this modern city and it ended up destroying all these amazing neighborhoods where people had lived for decades. You've lost what she calls the eyes on the street. Everybody's in their matchbox apartment. They're alienated from everyone else.
