CHAPTER

Chat GPT: The Topic Du Jour

We're actually doing research right now to try to train artificial agents to display the same patterns of curious walking that we see in humans. And I think that's really interesting and exciting for two reasons. One is that the agents can then be used to investigate spaces in a different way, so rather than foraging or this sort of more acquisition approach, they would be explicitly connecting. But it's also interesting because we can use those artificial agents to compare to humans and understand a little bit more about precisely what mechanisms from a mathematical modeling perspective explain human behavior. They can sort of fill this role of hypothetical humans and that can help us to distinguish between theories.
