Research the area before moving and make a budget. Get involved in campus life, join clubs and organizations to meet new people. Be open-minded - try new things as you may discover that you enjoy aspects of city life that you never expected. Maintain connection with your home by calling or visiting but don't run home at every minute. And number seven, find a community. Look for people who share similar interests and values. It could be a sports team, a club, a church. This will give you a sense of belonging to help you feel less isolated.
