The Role of Purity in Political Speech
There's always reason to question the moral authenticity of any political speech from either side, really. I think you can see the uses of that kind of speech is that they're trying to push different moral buttons. Trump used a lot of purity language too. But he was always using words related to disgust, talking about women and women's bodies. He was really trying to appeal to a certain kind of moralism there that I think was very deliberate. And I don't think it was necessarily reflective of his moral beliefs necessarily.
