The Importance of a Written Prescription
The required shot is to protect people in that country, but it's also to protect you because yellow fever is an untreatable and potentially fatal disease. When somebody has a prescription medicine and they're going to be traveling for an extended period, they should probably bring a written out prescription so they can fill it on the road. A good source of finding out where to obtain that medication if you should lose it or run out are the U.S. consulate in whatever country you happen to be in.
