"I was thinking, okay, cool, I can use this to start some kind of a small business or use it to generate some income for the lifestyle that both Emily and I want," he says. "And then it just became this snowball that I became ashamed of." The couple took out $100,000 in loans at the beginning of COVID's first year on the market. They didn't know they were under contract until their lender requested more information about the loan.
