The Wright Brothers' First Flight at Kitty Hawk

Wilbur and Orville Wright took off for the first time on July 2, 1903. They managed to stay airborne for 59 seconds before a gust of wind threw them back onto the ground. Three years later, Count Ferdinand von Zeppelin made his maiden flight in an airship that was 420 feet long with two 20-foot metal gondolas suspended under it. Despite their differences, they're similar enough to become natural competitors.
