There's more pressure to the deeper you get in a body of water. That compresses the air in your body and that's going to make you less floaty as well. The bacteria is eventually going to overcome the sinking of the body because your body's an enclosed system generally roughly. As they're eating, they're putting out as a waste product gases like methane and stuff like that. Your body traps that stuff and it begins to bloat. And everyone knows that once you bloat, you float.
