As technologies get more powerful, the stakes get ever higher. It's possible to imagine that knowledge brings with it the potential for unlimited destructive power. So if we fail to create that knowledge, we are doomed. But also, there is something about the bad actors that makes them progress more slowly. And that's why i say we have a moral obligation to stay ahead of them.
