A man calling himself dan cooper approached the ticket counter of northwest oriental air lines, which is what northwest airlines was called at the time. He paid 20 dollars in cash for a one way ticket from portland to seattle. After all the inflation that the government has caused in the last 50 years, the 20 dollars he paid would be equivalent to a hundred and thirt dollars to day.
