Frederick Tully's biography is not un problematic, but we have to move on. Frederick believed that they were nutricious and delicious and and sensible to grow. And so he he played a sort of psychology trick by getting royal guards to stand guard over potato plantations. At the time, potatoes were believed to be dangerous to humans. The poor poles are despised by the russians and the germans right up to the twentieth century. It's a desperately sad situation.
