There are rather fewer living southern baptist men in 18 65 than there had been in 18 60. Some southern baptist leaders, like broades, did evolve their views as time went on. Broades eventually came around as believing slavery was wrong in 18 82. It's hard to evolve beyond the things that your culture considers fine when they're immoral.
