McDowell: The fact that a subject may, on some occasions, take a case of a mere seeming to see that something is thus and so does not alter the fact that when he sees things of us and so and knows that he does. On McDowell's account, it's the state of seeing that this is a desk which provides me with an indefeasible warrant for Judging That This Is A Desk. If I'm in a position to state I'm seeing a desk, then that means that I have already made the judgment thisIsADesk. So it's hard to see how this could count as providing a warrant for the judgment. It seems natural to object at this point
