The Origins of Confucianism
I think China's history is so fascinating. You have this immense population spread over a huge landmass. So you had a spiritual context, a spiritual commonality that bound people together. Confucianism is very much about, like, you overcome the world through service to the other. The US has been on a 20-year upward trend of economic inequity. Meanwhile, China closed a poverty gap that was insane,. In a period of under 100 years, I mean, it's a phenomenal accomplishment. We can only ever be what it is in the immediate present, as it makes sense. No one is wholly responsible for the trajectory of the crisis before everyone was born.
