Empedocles on the Soul

Pythagorean writer Empedocles wants us to stop eating meat and performing blood sacrifices. He argues that when you eat a living animal, you are in fact committing cannibalism because every living animal is the reincarnated form of someone like you. And if this wasn't Pythagorean enough, we have the wonderful one-line fragment 141: "Wretches, utter wretches, keep your hands off beans"
