What's the Instinct in the Child?

i think instinct would probably be most allined with child in so far as it's your feelings space. Can i ask where instinct fits into this? Because i very frequently will have an instinct about the right thing to do, and i've learnt that i absolutely should follow that. So in this particular example, i just have the instinct first, you have to quit this, and then the thinking spart afterwards. Where does the instinct come from in this?
