Libya, the Land of the Ottoman Empire
Libya is a land forged less by violence than imported violence. It has been under near permanent occupation since the time of the ottoman empire. The european powers, principally britain and france, began carving up the continent in what becomes known as the scramble for africa. Libya comes from an old berber word meaning the land west of the nile.
