Short History Of...

A Novel About Slavery by Thomas Dilworth
Abraham Lincoln was born in Kentucky and raised on a farm with his family. He is an enthusiastic self-educator, memorising long passages of literature. By the age of 16 he has made up to 25 cents per day ferrying people across the Ohio River. His father dies when he is just nine years old after drinking contaminated milk. Abraham's stepmother Sarah takes care of him for several months while Tom finds a new wife. The pair bond over their shared love of reading as well as physical activity. In 1830 they move to Illinois where there are better business opportunities.
