The Importance of Skepticism in Understanding the Universe

If general relativity is true, it implies that we can't know the global structure of the universe. It has to be contained in your backward light. We have a case where no matter how much data you gather, you're going to have different possibilities for what the universe is like. So does that mean we shouldn't take too seriously the story about what's happening when we write Feynman diagrams?
