CHAPTER

The Vakya-Padiya: A Path to Truth

For Bhatsuhari, universals form a second layer of principles which manifest and differentiate the most fundamental reality that is Brahmaan. Less clear is whether all this amounts to the sort of radical proposal we found last time in Shankara's Advaita version of Vedanta. Much as with the Brahma-sutra, one can find passages in the Vakya-padiya to support both dualism and non-dualism. We'll have much more to say about Dignaga, but that will come much later.
