In C.S. Lewis' famous radio talk, they've already quoted, and I'll quote it again in a second. He believes that one of the things that happens when you realize that these most fundamental things in life can't give you satisfaction is you become what he called the disillusioned sensible person. And here's the trouble with it. The German philosopher Martin Heidegger at one point says the difference between a human being and an animal is animals are quite happy just to survive and human beings never are. Human beings want joy, they want meaning, they want fulfillment.
