The Criminal Law of Defamation
Mr. Ramachandan says the criminal law of defamation is something which we need to retain. The possibility of abuse is no ground for saying that a particular law should not be in existence, he adds. He points out that when you look at section 499 of the IPC, it's a carefully and elaborately worded section with examples and as many as 10 exceptions.
