The Importance of Exploring Older Ideas in Deep Learning
There are certain ML algorithms that once were really closely studied the RBM being one of them. Jeffinton says students today should maybe still be paying attention and trying to learn from the work that was done on these machines. He feels like a little bit of exploration into different ideas is kind of a healthier habit as a researcher so without necessarily understanding all the details kind of revisiting this idea for a little bit try to see what there is.
