The Values of Journalistic Professionalism

Journalism is a set of practices and professionalism can be helpful, but when it becomes a social identity that counters people's engagement with other voices or communities, I think it can become an obstacle. So if we do have journalists who are invested in talking about these things, that kind of disrupts what we often see as the ideals of journalistic professionalism,. Right? This sense of trying to be objective. If you have journalists who were coming from these communities that don't have access to water, for example, they cannot be object. And so the idea of being emotionally invested, of being angry about things, about, you know, those are sort of values that are not necessarily often associated with journalism
