The Evolution of Explanatory Knowledge Is So Much Faster Than the Evolution of Genetic Knowledge

Human culture and the human environment is dominated by this thing that we've come to call explanatory knowledge. We have a unique quality of understanding the environment, never mind being condemned by our genetics. Still the environment could change too quickly and still something could overcome our ability to adapt. And so that gives us a massive survival advantage. If you know, if you really care about the animals then you have to care even more about people. Because in the long run, it is only people who are going to be able to save every other organism out there that people say they care about.
