Toussaint's Forgiveness for Haitians

Louverture was a strong believer in egalitarianism and racial unity. Many found forgiveness for former enemies of the revolution a bitter-pilled swallow. Some scholars have called it a failure, pointing out that during his time in power, the Haitian economy never even came close to recovering to its pre-revolutionary heights.
