The Different Types of Artificial Intelligence
The thing that has captured the most attention right now are these foundation models, like chat, GPT, and Google's Bard. They've essentially consumed the internet and using that information, they're able to predict the most likely word to follow in a sentence based on context. But it's actually doing more than that. There's a type of inference that's going on. And so as they get applied to things like biotechnology, for example, Google's DeepMind group uses a similar system called alpha fold which does predictive generation on protein structures.
