Bob Greene: What do we mean by get us out of the Great Depression? That phrase is contested in a way that's part of the issue here. He says FDR got us back to some semblance of normal, but he presided over a time when GDP per capita was going up instead of down. And those are the four pillars of the high school history version; they don't go far enough for econ students.
