The Importance of Independent Work in the Swiss Alps

Math was never meant to be an actual like what we call independent subject in our own terminology that we grew up with, but the ability to work independently is a habit that Charlotte Mason talks about. Now from the very first math lessons, we want our child to be going in his own power. So even though we might be giving all of the questions orally, teaching them how to write their numbers, the child is the one to do the work. We aren't going to help our child over every difficulty.
