The Discourses of the Buddha
Much of practicing Buddhism is about friendship, friendship and communication. There's a sort of literalism that is a possibility if one looks at these early Buddhist discourses. And that can lead to an attitude of fundamentalism. The Buddha wasn't vegetarian or something, but he definitely didn't. He had some recommendations about when you should accept meat in your begging bar.
